something wrong with this one

OK… lemme see if I get this story right.
A guy goes to a club one evening, sometime before his wedding.  Leaving the establishment, three men,  for whatever reason, shot at  him 50 times, and he is killed.  Turns out he was unarmed.
The judge rules at the conclusion of the trial that the three men did nothing to cause the wrongful death of this intoxicated Groom-to-Be (I presume he’d had a few, if bachelor party traditions still hold true). Not guilty of man slaughter…really?
Did he break some law at that club that required use of deadly force, or did he just look like some other BAD guy.  Maybe he tried to run out of drunken panic.    I don’t know.  I wasn’t there.  But I do know the three "shooters"  happened to be trained professionals.  Firing outside a club, in a city… at an incapacitated target.
Up in these parts, were I was raised, just about any male over the age of 16 ( and alot gals as well) can drop a white-tailed buck that’s running for it’s life through a dense Aspen stand from a distance of 100 yards with 1 bullet fired from a LONG rifle. Two, if they get BUCK FEVER.
So WHY 50 rounds?  Or am I missing something?  There is something wrong with this one.
